Brighton night ride: details

Our first overnight ride! See London from a different perspective as we zoom along streets that are usually packed with traffic, then ride through the countryside in the wee small hours into the sunrise.

Date: Friday 25th March – Good Friday

Time: Midnight

Location: Monument

Distance: 56 miles

Projected arrival time: Approximately 7am on Saturday morning

Return journey: Regular trains throughout the day to various London stations

What to bring: good quality lights (more than one set if you can), spare batteries, snacks, togs for swimming, cash for breakfast, waterproofs just in case

What to expect: A small, friendly ride at conversational pace. The route is mainly on B roads which will be mostly quiet at night time. It’s mostly flat although there are some hills, with the big one near the end: Ditchling Beacon. It’s a killer! The sea at Brighton is fantastic for swimming in, so expect a freezing cold dip at the end and a leisurely stroll around the lovely city of Brighton.

    1. Midnight on Friday night… not Midnight on Thursday night! So, as it finishes. Thanks for the question! I’ve clarified it a bit better in the post now.
